HONOLULU, HI, UNITED STATES, October 5, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- As part of the Pacific Fleet Submarine Museum’s 45th anniversary, the museum held a dedication ceremony to celebrate the opening of its newly transformed galleries.

The two-year transformation introduces new immersive exhibits, interactive displays, and hands-on experiences that bring the history, innovation, and extraordinary stories of America’s Silent Service to life.

“For 45 years, this museum has connected visitors with the people and stories behind the U.S. Submarine Force,” said Andrew “Homer” Ring, executive director of the Pacific Fleet Submarine Museum. “With this transformation, we’re building on that legacy by creating a more immersive experience designed to inspire curiosity. We want visitors to walk away not only understanding what submariners accomplished but also appreciating the skill and teamwork that made those missions possible.

Among the new experiences is an interactive Arctic exhibit featuring a large-format 8K table that lets visitors explore the history and challenges of submarine operations under the Arctic ice, including USS Nautilus’ (SSN-571) historic 1958 voyage to the North Pole.

The museum also enhanced its control room experience, giving visitors the chance to test their knowledge and teamwork in an experience inspired by today’s Virginia-class submarines. Additional hands-on experiences include a missile launch control simulation and a restored USS Augusta (SSN-710) control panel that lets visitors maneuver a submarine through a challenging underwater environment.

A new exhibit highlighting the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard explores the people, skills and technology required to maintain and modernize the Pacific submarine force. Together with additional new displays and enhancements throughout the galleries, these exhibits represent only a portion of the museum’s broader transformation and provide visitors new ways to experience the history, technology and continuing evolution of America’s Submarine Force.
