DETROIT, MI, UNITED STATES, September 22, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Youmacon, Michigan’s premier anime convention and Detroit’s premier celebration of anime, gaming, cosplay, music, art and Japanese pop culture, returns to Huntington Place Oct. 29-Nov. 1 for four days of immersive programming, entertainment and fan experiences.

Established in 2005, Youmacon drew 14,000 attendees last year from across the country and internationally. Taking place over Halloween weekend, this year’s “Spirits & Shadows” theme will bring an added layer of creativity and fandom to downtown Detroit.

Highlights include:
• Vendor Hall Marketplace & Artist Alley — More than 300 vendors, artists, creators and independent makers offering collectibles, fandom merchandise, original artwork and handmade creations.
• Cosplay — Cosplayers, costumes, meetups, photoshoots and competition throughout the weekend.
• Gaming — An expanded gaming hall with free-play video, arcade, and tabletop gaming and tournaments.
• Entertainment — Concerts, cosplay competitions, fashion shows, guest panels, workshops and community meetups.
• Panels & Workshops — Fans can explore anime, manga, gaming, cosplay, crafting, Japanese pop culture and other fandom-related topics through presentations and hands-on programming.

Additional highlights include Otaku Cabaret Friday, Oct. 30; the Senpai Squad Rave and International Cosplay Competition Saturday, Oct. 31; expanded 18+ programming; a larger gaming hall; and the return of Japanese voice actors.

Youmacon 2026 will also feature new and expanded opportunities to connect with the Detroit community and give back.

NEW THIS YEAR - Free Weekend Badges for Detroit First Responders
As a thank-you to those who serve the city, City of Detroit Police, Firefighters and EMT personnel will receive a complimentary weekend badge to Youmacon. Eligible personnel may claim their free badge at the door with valid ID.

Youmacon will continue its commitment to charitable giving through its Annual Charity Ball and partnership with Extra Life, benefiting Corewell Health Children’s in Royal Oak. Over the past two years, Youmacon has donated more than $20,000 in addition to toys and merchandise. The convention will also participate in a charity exchange with the Consulate General of Japan in Detroit and Ikebana International.
