Ukraine Says Fourteen Killed, Dozens Injured in Russian Strikes

(MENAFN) Ukraine’s interior minister announced on Monday that Russian attacks across the country have killed 14 people and injured around 60 others throughout the day.

In a statement shared on Telegram, Ihor Klymenko said Russian forces carried out more than 70 shelling incidents across seven regions, noting that the city of Merefa in the Kharkiv region “suffered the most.”

He also said that Russian strikes continued to target Ukraine’s energy infrastructure in areas including Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, and Chernihiv, describing the attacks as intentional.

“At the same time, Russia continues to attack the energy sector. Today in the Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv and Chernihiv regions. These are not random strikes, but deliberate tactics to terrorize the civilian population,” he said.

Separately, Ukraine’s state energy company Naftogaz reported that five of its facilities were hit over the past 24 hours in the Sumy and Kharkiv regions. The company said the damage forced it to halt production operations and warned that it would further complicate preparations for the winter season.

“Due to damage to the equipment, we had to stop production processes,” the company said on Telegram, adding that the damage “complicates preparations for winter.”

Russia has not yet issued a response to the claims, and the situation remains difficult to independently verify due to the ongoing conflict.
