Trump Says Large Volumes of Venezuelan Oil Heading to US
(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump said on Monday that significant quantities of Venezuelan crude oil are being shipped to the United States, describing the flow as part of what he called a growing energy partnership, according to remarks made at a White House business summit.
He stated that “hundreds of millions of barrels” of oil are moving toward US refineries, including facilities in Houston, where the crude is being processed. He characterized the arrangement as a cooperative energy relationship between the two sides.
Trump framed the development as part of broader changes in US–Venezuela relations following major political and security shifts in the country earlier this year. He also linked the oil flows to a wider restructuring of Venezuela’s energy sector under interim authorities, which have been involved in managing oil exports and trade adjustments.
His comments come after previous announcements that Venezuelan oil exports to the US would be redirected in large volumes under new arrangements involving state-controlled shipments and commercial distribution channels, according to earlier reports.
The Venezuelan oil sector has undergone major changes in recent months following heightened political instability, including shifts in leadership and adjustments to energy policy, alongside increased US involvement in managing sanctions and export flows.
At the same time, analysts continue to note that Venezuela’s heavy crude requires specialized refining capacity, meaning that export increases depend heavily on existing infrastructure and foreign refinery partnerships.
Trump’s remarks also come amid broader global energy realignments influenced by geopolitical tensions, sanctions policies, and shifts in global oil supply chains, according to reports.
