Crown Prince Hussein reviews 2026-2027 anti-littering plan

(MENAFN) HRH Crown Prince Hussein chaired a meeting on Sunday of the preparatory committee overseeing the executive programme for Jordan’s cleanliness and anti-littering strategy for 2026-2027. The session, held at the Ministry of Environment and attended by Prime Minister Jafar Hassan, reviewed the committee’s plans for the recently launched government programme, according to a Royal Court statement.

The Crown Prince emphasized the importance of reducing litter in public spaces, noting that economic and regional challenges should not overshadow fundamental issues like cleanliness.

He highlighted that maintaining clean public areas is both a moral and religious duty and plays a crucial role in the performance of key sectors such as tourism.

HRH also stressed the need for coordination among relevant parties to raise community awareness, improve infrastructure, and adopt initiatives that support the programme’s success, which requires collective effort.

Prime Minister Hassan said the government will begin implementing key aspects of the strategy in coordination with all relevant authorities. He noted that the programme relies on cleanliness campaigns, awareness initiatives, and strict enforcement against violators, with clearly defined roles for all parties involved. The campaigns will focus on schools, universities, and mosques, alongside strengthened monitoring measures.

Minister of Environment Ayman Suleiman briefed attendees on the executive programme, detailing its objectives, expected impacts, timeframe-based outputs, and responsibilities of implementing entities.
