Zelenskyy Confirms US Proposal for Trilateral Talks

(MENAFN) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced Saturday that the United States has suggested a trilateral dialogue at the level of national security advisors, involving Russia and Ukraine, aimed at ending the ongoing conflict.

His comments were made while responding to questions from journalists through social media platforms, according to reports from Ukrainian outlets.

Zelenskyy stated he would endorse such a meeting if significant decisions, including prisoner exchanges, are achieved.

He further noted that similar sessions had previously taken place in Türkiye, where prisoner swaps were successfully carried out.

The Ukrainian leader emphasized that work continues on the peace initiative proposed by Washington, with Kyiv’s delegation engaged in ongoing discussions in the US.

Among the most challenging matters under negotiation are Ukraine’s territorial integrity, security assurances, financial aid for reconstruction, and oversight of the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant, Zelenskyy explained.

He added that, for the conflict to conclude, it may be necessary for both Ukrainian and Russian forces to remain positioned along the front line for the time being.

The president argued that he has not observed genuine intent from Moscow to end hostilities, though he mentioned that the US has indicated Russia does want to bring the war to a close.
