US Carries Out Operation Targeting Drug Smuggling Vessels

(MENAFN) The United States carried out military action on Monday against three boats suspected of involvement in drug trafficking in the eastern Pacific Ocean. The strikes resulted in the deaths of eight individuals aboard the vessels, according to a statement from the US Southern Command.

Southern Command explained that the mission was conducted on Monday under the leadership of Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and was carried out in international waters by Joint Task Force Southern Spear.

"Intelligence confirmed that the vessels were transiting along known narco-trafficking routes in the Eastern Pacific and were engaged in narco-trafficking.

"A total of eight male narco-terrorists were killed during these actions—three in the first vessel, two in the second and three in the third," it said on US social media company X.
