Golden Globe-winning actress Sally Kirkland passes away

(MENAFN) Sally Kirkland, the acclaimed American actress and Golden Globe winner, has passed away at the age of 84, her representative confirmed, according to reports.

Kirkland died in a hospice in Palm Springs, California, after facing ongoing health issues, including dementia and injuries from multiple falls over the past year.

She gained widespread recognition for her lead role in the 1987 independent film Anna, which earned her a Golden Globe award and an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress.

Over a career spanning more than 250 film and television projects, Kirkland appeared in notable films such as JFK and Bruce Almighty, as well as popular television series including Days of Our Lives.

Earlier this year, a public fundraising effort was launched to help cover her significant medical expenses.
