Erdogan hosts Qatari PM, head of UN agency for Palestinian refugees
Erdogan’s discussion with Miguel Angel Moratinos, the UN Alliance of Civilizations High Representative, took place following the 51st Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). Presidential Advisor on Foreign Policy and Security, Akif Cagatay Kilic, was present during the meeting.
In addition, Erdogan met with Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani after the OIC session at Istanbul’s Lutfi Kirdar International Convention and Exhibition Center. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, National Intelligence Organization Director Ibrahim Kalin, and Kilic also attended.
The conversations centered on recent developments in the region and enhancing bilateral cooperation within the summit’s framework.
A statement from Türkiye’s Communications Directorate noted Erdogan’s active diplomatic engagement following Israel’s attacks on Iran. He emphasized that the region cannot afford another war, highlighting the need to keep Syria and Iraq out of the conflict zones, reduce tensions, and foster diplomatic dialogue.
Erdogan underscored the urgency of halting Israeli actions and resuming negotiations to resolve the nuclear dispute, stressing that persistent efforts by regional countries toward these aims would be advantageous.
