Iran Downplays US Attack Impact on Fordow
The source cited Iranian lawmaker Mohammad Manan Raisi, who represents Qom Province—the region housing the installation.
Despite US President Donald Trump asserting that the Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan atomic facilities were “completely and totally obliterated” during the overnight military operation, Raisi countered this claim.
He informed the news agency that “contrary to the claims of the lying US president, the Fordow nuclear facility has not been seriously damaged, and most of what was damaged was only on the ground level and can be restored.”
Describing the consequences of the attack as merely “superficial,” Raisi emphasized that there were no casualties and no release of radioactive substances following the incident.
Supporting this position, Hasan Abedini, deputy director for political affairs at the state-controlled Iranian Broadcasting Corporation (IRIB), stated on Sunday that Iranian officials had proactively evacuated the Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan nuclear sites before the American offensive.
According to Abedini, “the enriched uranium reserves had been transferred from the nuclear centers and there are no materials left there that, if targeted, would cause radiation and be harmful to our compatriots,” minimizing any potential risks from the strikes.
